Longform Showcase feat. Ghost Man on 3rd from NYC!
You give us the word to get us going. Then, watch unique fully improvised comedy shows unfold right before your eyes.

Every Longform Showcase features the Sea Tea Improv Ensemble, a killer guest group, and a one-night-only team.

This month's special guest is Ghost Man on Third from New York City!

Ghost Man on Third is Kate Sidley (The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, UCB's Liquid Courage) and Joe Leonardo (Funny As Tech, UCB's Lloyd Night) doing two-person improv comedy with who knows how many characters. Kate & Joe are two of Sea Tea Improv's founding members.

What's Your Problem? with Chion Wolf
What's Your Problem? is a live advice* show at Sea Tea Improv's underground comedy theater for curious people with a sense of humor.

Write down your problem and/or confession ANONYMOUSLY, put it in the big box, and then host Chion Wolf (WNPR, The Mouth at The Mark Twain House & Museum, the Hartford Hot Several Brass Band, Night Fall) will help you figure it all out with her panel of unqualified yet enthusiastic, thoughtful humans.

Tickets ($15): https://www.eventbrite.com/e/whats-your-problem-with-chion-wolf-tickets-34893274724

For every problem, a new audience volunteer is chosen! Sometimes working out the problems is VERY funny, and sometimes it’s deadly serious. Even better, sometimes it’s both.

At the end of the night, Chion picks one final audience volunteer randomly who gets a free pair of tickets to next month’s show, and the grand finale is a Declaration of Confessions.

Very mature children are invited, and immature adults appreciated, profanity likely.

The audio of each show will be recorded live and released later as a podcast, so if you don't want your snorting laughter or gasps of realizations broadcast to the whole world, you'd better bring your highly-effective muffling techniques.

Chatterbox / Cats
Improv and Storytelling are like two siblings who can't stop chattering.

In this show, Chatterbox: Improv Meets Storytelling, we'll all hear some compelling stories for the first time, and then our improvisers spin the ideas and themes from those stories into some awesome comedy scenes for you!

Sometimes the stories are from a special guest, sometimes we'll ask the audience for stories, sometimes a professional storyteller, or sometimes it's our own improvisers -- but any way it goes, you get a little bit of improv and a little bit of storytelling!

This month's special guest is... Cats! The animals, that is, not the musical. Your stories about cats, kittens and all things feline will inspire our improv comedy scenes! Mee-yow. Cat people: clean out your litterbox and come see Chatterbox!

Improv 402 - Twoprov (2Prov) - 1-Week Boot Camp Performance Course
*** 1-Week Boot Camp with irregular schedule -- see days & times! ***

Do you tend to hang out on the back line until you feel like you have the perfect idea? Do you cower in terror that your scenes will never get swept? Or, do you think a fellow improviser is so funny that you wonder what it would be like to only do scene after scene with her?

If any of these apply to you, sign up for 2-prov-- a performance class on the art of performing with only two people onstage. You & your partner will play 100% of the characters, make 100% of the choices, and do 100% of the editing. Challenging, fun, and freeing, 2-prov is just the best.

Musical/Twosical
Musical theater fans, this is the show for you! Hosted by true musical theater geeks Julia Pistell (Managing Director, Sea Tea Comedy Theater) and Greg Ludovici (Artistic Director, Sea Tea Comedy Theater), tonight we feature three great musical acts.

We begin with "Songs We Don't Remember"-- old, washed-up cabaret stars improvise "classics" from audience suggestions. (Starring known wash-ups Casey Grambo and Julia Pistell.)

Then we'll take a pop break with "Set the Tone" as Stephanie Moreland and Casey Grambo improvise pop songs based on your ideas.

Finally, we'll see a fully improvised, elaborate, two-person musical. "Wow! Sure," (Greg Ludovici and Julia Pistell) will delight you with fully improvised songs, dancing, and emotionally satisfying stories. Past musicals include "Prosthetic Leg: the Musical," "Rocky Hill vs. Glastonbury: the Musical," and "Yard Goat Betrayal: The Musical." And if you've ever wanted to see a 7 months pregnant woman attempt a kick line, this is the show for you.

Come ready to clap along and get a few new earworms stuck in your head!

Pocket Vinyl Plays LIVE & "Drive, Play, Sleep!"
"Drive. Play. Sleep." is the story of every band you've never heard of. The documentary is a first person view into the lives of full time touring bands and the daily struggles they deal with on the road, both physical and emotional. It was made completely by bands turning on a video camera and capturing what happens in the public moments, the private breakdowns, and when the music stops and steps off the stage. It is a music documentary like none other.

Hanging with Harold (Drop-In Event) - With Josh Marcus
Hanging with Harold is not a class or a workshop. It's not a show, either. It's a "learn by doing" drop-in event where Sea Tea Improv Studios students, Sea Tea Comedy Theater performers, and members of the Connecticut improv community (that's you, just by showing up!) practice a kind of longform improv comedy together known as the Harold. Learn more about the Harold here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_(improvisation)

"You'll have to do about a hundred Harolds to start feeling comfortable with the form." - Matt Besser, founding member of the Upright Citizens Brigade

We track of the cumulative number of Harolds done by each participant from week to week. Each week, we will do 1, 2 or 3 Harolds (time depending), and everyone who participates will add to their Harold total. Can you reach 100 completed Harolds?

Just $5 per person via cash at the door, Venmo (@seateaimprov), or PayPal (comedy@seateaimprov.com).

Doc Foster's Twisted Tales: A Puppet Show for Grown-Ups
Step right up ladies and gentlemen! Step right up and prepare to be shocked, delighted and horrified during Doc Foster’s Twisted Tales as the one and only Doctor Thaddeus J. Foster rolls into town to beguile audiences with his rare and ghastly brand of storytelling. This is not your Grandma’s puppet show! Nowhere else will audiences have the opportunity to marvel as monsters, specters and demons congregate from supernatural regions and beyond to terrorize the innocent! Stories of intrigue, love, betrayal (and the occasional murder) lay in store for the curious and the brave. Nothing is sacred or too strange for Foster, who reminds us that not every story has a happy ending.

Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/doc-fosters-twisted-tales-a-puppet-show-for-grown-ups-tickets-36065316332

Doc Foster’s Twisted Tales is a wickedly macabre puppet show anthology combining hand puppetry, shadow, and crankies to bring four original tales of terror to life as told by the eccentric Doc Foster and his misfit troupe of performers. UConn Puppet Arts Program MFA candidate Shane C.S. McNeal pays tribute to the horror genre with this twisted dark comedy of cautionary tales.

Here’s what audiences are saying about Doc Foster:

“Imagine a blend of Coraline, Creepy Pasta and live theater. Oh yeah, it’s creepy, it’s fun, and it’s visually delicious.” – Jeanette Andromeda – Horrormade.com

“What a phenomenal show! I've never laughed so much at tales of death! From its interactive set to its exquisitely talented performers, from captivating storytelling to creatively crafted puppetry, Doc Foster's Twisted Tales was a delight to experience.” – Kayleigh Mierzejewski

“It was attention grabbing (and) hard to lose focus.” - Adam Koziolsasid

Hartford's Most Watched 90's Crime Drama: The Charter Boys

Written & Directed by Matt J. Saccullo

Throw your feet up on the desk for this live crime drama TV show.

Act 1: It's 1992 in Hartford, the pilot episode of UPN's most promising show, The Charter Boys. Someone has stolen the Connecticut Charter! It's up to by-the-book Detective Vincent Stapler and former-art-thief-turned-Detective Calvin DiAngelo to find it and, in turn, save Connecticut. What they, along with historian heart throb, Dr. Ashley Applebaum, uncover is a treasure hunt based on actual historical clues left by the Wadsworth's.

Act 2: The intense series finale, 8 years later! Will Detectives Stapler and DiAngelo find the Charter before Thomas Dudley's crew? Will Sandra Sheary revive her role as Dr. Ashley Applebaum? Is Chief Holden going to survive? Will 2000 really be the end of The Charter Boys?

Hanging with Harold (Drop-In Event)

What's cool is that you don't have to be suicidal to call them. You don't need to be at your lowest point to find help. You are NOT alone, and you’re always welcome at Sea Tea.

On May 26, 2015, the Kickstarter campaign for our very own comedy theater finished. We set a goal of $35,000 and were completely overwhelmed by the $60,180 that was donated. Based on our research, our families, friends, and fans made ours the most successful Kickstarter for a comedy theater ever!
