Learn how to get your scenes started right from the jump by beginning with the response to an initiation. What information is essential? How can you avoid taking away your scene partner's freedom to play? We'll explore how to initiate by responding in both organic and premise-based scenes.

Instructor: Erik Tanouye

About the Instructor: Erik Tanouye is a long-time performer and writer at UCB (Dillinger, The Shoves, 1985, Bastian, The Curfew). He currently performs with Old Yorkers and Montana Dan. He has headlined and taught workshops at improv festivals in exotic locations like Berlin, Edinburgh, and Dayton, Ohio. From 2009 to 2020, he ran the UCB Training Center in New York, where he also taught improv and sketch writing. Outside of the comedy world, he has published several crime novels under a pseudonym and belongs to the Teamsters.
