Sea Tea Comedy Theater's benefit production of V’s THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, featuring women & non-binary people from the CT comedy community.

SEA TEA IMPROV JOINS THE GLOBAL MOVEMENT TO STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS

The comedy theater will present a benefit production of V’s THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, featuring women from through the Connecticut comedy community. Directed by Allie Rivera and produced by Julia Pistell, the production will highlight the joy, pain, and experience of having a vagina.

If you've never seen the Vagina Monologues, this is a great way to see it for the first time: listen to the testimony of women across the world, performed by the women in your community. If you've seen the play many times, this production promises to carry the lively, electric energy of seasoned improvisers. The play will be presented traditionally (not improvised, sorry, improv superfans!), but please do stay after the production for an audience-inclusive discussion and performance of issues surrounding violence against women in the workplace.

Proceeds benefit My Sisters' Place. In their words, "My Sisters’ Place was founded in 1982 as a shelter to provide a safe place for single women and women with infants and children in Hartford who had nowhere else to turn. Today, the organization encompasses My Sister’s Place, and affiliates Community Housing Advocates, Inc., and Mercy Housing Corporation. Together, we provide a wide range of transitional and supportive housing, housing coordination, and rapid re-housing services for women, children, and men throughout the Greater Hartford community, serving over 6,000 individuals and families annually."

  • “Spellbinding, funny, and almost unbearably moving . . . it is both a work of art and an incisive piece of cultural history, a poem and a polemic, a performance and a balm and a benediction." —Variety
