Brenna Harvey

Brenna Harvey

Brenna Harvey is a CT-based author, comedy performer, academic, and feminist activist. Brenna holds a BA in English and sociology and a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Connecticut, where she is now on a slow roll toward a PhD. Her current research focuses on the intersections of sexuality and masculinity, using in-depth life history interviews to document the impact of heterosexual men’s experiences of informal sex education on their gender ideology, behavior, and well-being later in life. Her parents are definitely extremely proud of her for being a professional sex researcher and barely flinched at all during her master’s thesis defense.

Brenna is deeply invested in local art and comedy as social justice projects. She believes they provide ways to build stronger and more connected communities, to share diverse experiences and perspectives, and to laugh and enjoy life without relying on tired stereotypes or reproducing large-scale social inequalities. As a college student, Brenna co-founded and eventually directed the long form improv troupe Horse Lincoln, where she studied long form improv with coaches from the Upright Citizens’ Brigade Theater in New York City. She writes and performs sketch comedy with the New England sketch troupe Sunny’s Cafe. Her short fiction is published in OMGQueer and The Long River Review. Brenna joined Sea Tea Improv in 2013 after being an enormous fangirl for half a decade, and then was too intimidated to write a cast bio for another year.
