Asking For A Friend with Chion Wolf

Asking For A Friend is a live advice* show at Sea Tea Improv's underground comedy theater for curious people with a sense of humor.

Write down your problem, put it in the big red box, and host Chion Wolf (WNPR, The Mouth-Off at The Mark Twain House & Museum, the Hartford Hot Several, Night Fall) will help you figure it all out with her panel of unqualified yet enthusiastic, thoughtful humans.

At the end of the night, Chion picks one audience volunteer randomly who gets a free pair of tickets to next month’s show, and the grand finale is a Reading of Confessions.

Very mature children are invited, and immature adults welcomed, profanity likely.

The audio of each show will be recorded live and released later as a podcast, so if you don't want your snorting laughter or gasps of realizations broadcast to the whole world, please bring your highly-effective muffling techniques.

[Workshop] Writing Sketches Through Improv with Kevin McDonald of The Kids in the Hall

[Workshop] Writing Sketches Through Improv with Kevin McDonald of The Kids in the Hall

Learn The Kids in the Hall method of writing sketches through improv from Kevin McDonald!

Sea Tea Comedy Theater is proud to bring sketch comedy legend Kevin McDonald back to Hartford for a master class and a show!

This master class starts with the basics of sketch comedy and comedy writing, to games that lead to thinking naturally about writing & performing at the same time. Groups of students begin to improvise and Kevin's notes on those improvised scenes will lead to figuring out how the scenes could develop into fully developed comedy sketches.

By the end of the day on Saturday, Kevin and the students in this class will have written 4 to 7 completely new comedy sketches.

New For This Year: A Whole Second Day! Students will have option of choosing just the Satuday workshop, or Saturday AND Sunday! The sketches created by the 2-day students will appear in the Sunday night show, with each 2-day student appearing in at least one sketch.

An important note from Kevin: "I will probably also bore the students with Kids in the Hall anecdotes throughout. Sorry about that."

Schedule:

Saturday 2/24 Workshop: 10:00 am to 5:30 pm with a one-hour break for lunch

Sunday 2/25 Workshop (2-Day Students Only): 10:00 am to 5:30 pm with a one-hour break for lunch

Sunday 2/25 Performance: 7:00 pm - A big show featuring stand-up comedy by Kevin McDonald, sketch comedy by & featuring the 2-day students, and an improv show with Kevin McDonald!

This is a full weekend of comedy writing, improvising, and performing with Kevin McDonald!

Kevin McDonald is a founding member of the legendary Canadian sketch comedy group, The Kids in the Hall. He's been nominated for three Emmys for his comedy writing. His movie credits include Lilo & Stitch and Galaxy Quest. He's appeared on MADtv, Friends, That 70's Show, Seinfeld, and Arrested Development.

Don't miss this chance to learn from one of the best, right here in Hartford!

Asking For A Friend with Chion Wolf
