Physical Improv (Summer Improv Workshop Series)
Instructor: Kate Sidley
Cost: $35, $30 for college students

Say goodbye to talking heads! This workshop is designed to get improvisers relaxed and comfortable with being physically active on stage. Create a realistic subway car, dive off Niagra Falls, be a gnarled tree, and get swept up in a tornado. This class will give you the tools you need to create dynamic and active environments on stage while working physically and safely with other improvisers. You don’t need to be an athlete or contortionist to be physical in improv, but with the support of your team and some basic skills, you’ll have an audience applauding your every feat. Students should come prepared to move.

Hip-Hop Improv (Summer Improv Workshop Series)
Instructors: Vladimir John Perez & Dan Russell
Cost: $35, $30 for college students

Sea Tea Improv’s Vlad & Dan will school you on what it takes to bring the ruckus to all you improv lovers. Learn comedy battle rapping, how to roast an audience member like a Beastie Boy, and how to rhyme quick on your feet. Learn to support your fellow improv rappers with beatboxing, and learn to listen to your “opponent” to dis back hard. Create a hip-hop persona that’s larger than life, but true to your steez. By the end, you’ll be selling bad rhymes, setting up easy ones, and finding the awesome connections that come when you’ve got no choice but to try to rhyme on the spot. True “Yes And” ain’t nothing to f**k wit!

Build-A-Character (SOLD OUT!) (Summer Improv Workshop Series)
Instructor: Julia Pistell
Cost: $35, $30 for college students

Southern belles, sarcastic bellhops, and suspicious busboys-- we all know a well-drawn character when we see one. But how do you build them in the heat of the improv moment?
Veteran Sea Tea Improviser Julia Pistell will guide you through the process of creating a character within an improv scene without undermining the integrity of your story. Using your particular strengths, you'll create at least three characters that you can play with for the rest of your improv days. We'll work with point of view, philosophy, and physicality to create characters that last for much longer than a single laugh. We promise: a character is a lot more than a silly voice or an impression. Come and meet your other selves!
