Hanging with Harold (Drop-In Event)
Hanging with Harold is not a class or a workshop. It's not a show, either. It's a "learn by doing" drop-in event where Sea Tea Improv Studios students, Sea Tea Comedy Theater performers, and members of the Connecticut improv community (that's you, just by showing up!) practice a kind of longform improv comedy together known as the Harold. Learn more about the Harold here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_(improvisation)

"You'll have to do about a hundred Harolds to start feeling comfortable with the form." - Matt Besser, founding member of the Upright Citizens Brigade

We track of the cumulative number of Harolds done by each participant from week to week. Each week, we will do 1, 2 or 3 Harolds (time depending), and everyone who participates will add to their Harold total. Can you reach 100 completed Harolds?

Just $5 per person via cash at the door, Venmo (@seateaimprov), or PayPal (comedy@seateaimprov.com).

If you love the thrill of watching a group of misfits climb through a propeller shaft in a desperate attempt for safety, then don’t miss The Contagious Flooding Inferno: An Improvised Disaster Film– an improvisational comedy show based on thrilling 70’s and 90’s disaster films “The Towering Inferno,” “The Poseidon Adventure,” “Dante’s Peak,” and “Armageddon.” Live improvisers spin a new tale of survival against an epic disaster each night, all based on audience suggestions.

For four nights only, a blowhard hero will guide a wayward group of survivors through the treacherous aftermath of an epic disaster. Dodging fire, flood, and darkness, risking life and limb, sacrificing self for the good of others, all in the hopes of survival--- our heroes, and our villains too, have a lot to overcome.

Each show will use audience suggestions to create a new story based on your ideas. No matter how harrowing the tale, no stunt doubles will be used! You provide the disaster, and we’ll provide the escape.

GRANTCH is the promise that Matt wont miss another one of Bridget's softball games because of that work meeting. GRANTCH is the promise that Laura will pay Brian back that $20 she borrowed for the pony races. GRANTCH is the promise that Eliza will release her tax records once Kevin releases his emails, as if the two are related. GRANTCH is the promise that we will take your suggestion and use it completely. We work for the audience to make sure they are taken care of, that's the GRANTCH promise. GRANTCH, a promise that you'll want to make and we'll follow through on.

History of the Future is a comedy troupe from Hartford, Connecticut. We specialize in surreal longform improvised comedy, though we play around in many different comedic mediums. Connect with us on Facebook and Twitter @hotfcomedy.

Winnipeg is a collection of Connecticut-based improvisers who focus on studying and performing the Harold. Despite the Canadian name, our team contains zero actual Canadians. Our improv training spans a variety of theaters including UCB, Magnet, and Annoyance, but the commonality that ties us together is that our foundation started with Hartford's very own Sea Tea Improv. We are a house team for the new Sea Tea Comedy Theater and have performed at the Hartford Improv Festival and the Del Close Marathon.
