Workshop: Stage Presence
The great improviser Jason Mantzoukas once said, "80% of Improv is owning the stage." He's right-- no matter how good your ideas are, you need to conduct yourself onstage with the confidence and presence of a professional actor, from the moment you enter the stage to the moment you exit.

In this workshop you will receive NO feedback on your ideas, characters, games, or jokes. We will explore and drill, with lots of personal feedback: using your voice, body, and movements to command the stage. We'll work on hosting, being on the back line, and stage presence in scenes.

Everyone will receive personal feedback on their mindless habits, their projected attitudes, and anything else we discover about your personal stage presence. Come kick your performance to the next level.

This workshop will be loud, fun and loud! Exercises will work on stretching performers in the direction they already want to go. We'll look at heightening through yes-anding, heightening through mimicry and heightening through sheer guts.

Sea Tea Improv + Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre's Terry Withers!
This might be the best night of your life. Longtime buddies Terry Withers of UCB Theatre NY and Sea Tea Improv will finally do a show together! Terry will join Sea Tea Improv as an unpredictable guest in one of our sets, followed by leading Sea Tea Improv through his signature show, Short Form is the ONLY Art Form.

Terry Withers continues the successful 15-year run of his short-form show that critics have called "Disturbingly Visceral" and "Fun For Crazy People." Matt Schlotnick wrote "It changed me. I attended the show as a lark and it changed me. I had always felt safe before, you know? This showed me I wasn't." From Terry himself: "Here is a question: Would we, as a nation, have incorrectly concluded we had to invade Iraq due to its stockpiling of WMDs if more citizens routinely played Match, OUTMATCH? That's a fair question. Of course we can never know for sure, but the answer is no." Short form has taught us that it makes us smarter.

We're not going to lie to you. This night will be weird. It will be wild. It will be fun. Sea Tea Improv rarely plays with outside guests, but this guy is irresistible!

Terry Withers has been performing and teaching at UCB Theatre basically forever. He's been on more than 12,000 teams, most notably the legendary Harold team SANDINO. He's also the creator of E-MPROV, an online improv show empire. Terry is responsible for many excellent Sea Tea Improv collaborations, including being on the world's first E-mprov team with Julia Pistell; performing E-mprov with Dan Russell; performing in Short Form is the Only Art Form with Kate Sidley & Joe Leonardo; and the ultimate collaboration of performing E-mprov short form with Greg Ludovici. Terry, Greg is really sorry for his behavior during that show. In conclusion, Terry Withers did not write this bio of himself, but he is an excellent guy, a spectacular improviser, and also super duper nice.
