Kate Samberg was born on Lawn Giland, but raised in fair Verona, a block away from Tony Soprano’s mother, but far enough from any of the Real Housewives. Since the age of four she felt destined to be a professional ballerina and studied with New Jersey Ballet, appearing in many of its productions at the Paper Mill Playhouse. But she hung up her pointe shoes when she realized that she wanted to do two things that ballerinas are not allowed to do: eat and talk. By then, the theatre bug bit her ballet-issued nonexistent butt anyway. As a result, Kate majored in theatre at Emerson College in Boston, where in addition to eating and talking she also fell in love with improv. While there she was a member of Improv Boston, and Jimmy’s Travelling All-Stars. Kate also studied improv with the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City. Currently she does theatre all over Connecticut (favorite roles include Claire in “Rumors” and Violet in “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play”) and is extremely interested in pursuing voice-over work for commercials, audiobooks or animation (agents take note). Despite the skepticism of most of her friends, the full name on her birth certificate is, indeed, Kate.
