Instructor: Julia Pistell
from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
starting February 25, 2014
Where: Sea Tea Improv Studio
Prerequisites: None! (ages 18 and under only)
Join Sea Tea Improv’s first-ever performance troupe for the coolest up-and-coming improvisers around: the Sea Teens! No, this isn’t a group of adolescent octopi– it’s a fantastic class of students who will learn the skills and games of improvised comedy. We’ll play games a la “Whose Line is It Anyway,” and work on making our scenes surprising, truthful, and most of all, hilarious. Improv comedy is also great for rounding out acting skills, building confidence, making great friends, and playing to the top of your intelligence. Past participants in our teen classes have reported using improv skills for standing up to bullies, landing roles in professional stage productions, and many more. In this class, we’ll work specifically on using improv for performance: there will be at least two full-length public shows to show off our amazing improvising.
AND: this year, we’ve been invited to bring the Sea Teens to the Chicago Improv Festival! If interest warrants and parental permission is provided, we will use the funds raised from other shows to bring the team out to Chicago and perform in the improv capital of the world. Don’t miss this chance to have an experience improvisers of all ages dream about (and add an incredibly cool item to any budding thespian’s resume).
Space is extremely limited so sign up today!
